Mixed Age Group
The classroom consists of children from ages 2 and a half to six years. This mixture of ages allows the children to learn from each other, the older children learning to care, bond, help and be good role models to the younger ones. They love to share their knowledge with the younger ones, and by doing so reinforce what they already know. They learn to be patient and tolerant to others, especially as the younger children learn accepted social skills. By watching the older children work, the younger ones are motivated, and look forward to doing more challenging activities. Thus The Montessori classroom is like a nurturing “mini community” with lots of social graces, interaction with each other, where young children experience greater social and intellectual development. Learning within this diverse group stimulates greater interest and encourages cooperation.

Field Trips
During the course of the year, field trips will be taken to enrich the children’s learning experience. Field trips will be well chaperoned by both teachers and parent volunteers. A permission slip will be given out in advance of the trip. It must be signed by the parent and returned in order for the child to join the trip.
